The painting was inspired by
experiment with 5 monkeys and ladder. "The 5 monkeys were kept in a
cage with a ladder. Some bananas were kept on the top of the ladder.
Whenever one of the monkeys would climb the ladder to get the bananas,
all the monkeys were sprayed with ice cold water. Soon, the monkeys
begin to police thmeselves, and would prevent any other monkey from climbing
the ladder. Eventually, the cold water was turned off, but the monkeys
kept policing themselves. Then, one monkey was removed, and another monkey
put in it's place.
Sure, the monkey didn't know
about the forbidden bananas (must be rotten by now), so when it tried
to get the banana, the other monkeys would stop him. Soon, the new monkey
started policing the other monkeys too. Eventually, one by one all the
monkeys were replaced in the group, but the monkeys kept policing themselves,
even though none of the original monkeys weren't there and the reason
for policing themselves was not existent."
It's so common with our life.
Then you are constantly beaten up for no matter what reason even you
see the light at the end many of us give up. Give up on our dreams.
We think it's not possible anymore.
There is another story which
is completely opposite and give us hope. We still can do it! " A donkey
fell into a deep well, and the farmer who owned him had no idea how
to get the donkey out. After much thought, he concluded the best solution
would be to call some of his friends to help bury the donkey in the
well. After all, he reasoned, the donkey was old and trying to get him
out of the well was going to be a lot of trouble. The neighboring farmers
arrived with the shovels and they all began to pitch dirt into the well,
on top of the donkey. The donkey began to make horrible noises-for a
while. Then the donkey was silent. The men peered down into the well
and saw amazing sight.
Every time they threw a shovel
full of dirt into the well, the donkey simply shook it off, so it ended
up under his feet instead of on top of him. They kept shoveling, trying
to bury the helpless donkey and he kept shaking off the dirt! Before
long, the pile of dirt with which they were trying to bury him became
tall enough to raise him out of the well, and he simply stepped off
the pile onto level ground."
I wish that we would be like
a strong, not giving up donkeys and not monkeys who lose they dreams
and lives in the darkness. It's explains how some people find it so
easy to build their dreams while others become lost and frustrated.
