Earlier this year, one of my abstract photographs — a large-format piece titled Abstract A2 — was featured in the new TV series Suits L.A., Season 1, Episode 12. You can see it in the small conference room, where several quiet but important character moments take place. In the scene shown here, actors Victoria Justice and Bryan Greenberg are seated in conversation, with the artwork framed behind them.
Abstract A2 is part of a series I created exploring abstract organic forms through photography. The palette leans toward dark teals and muted cyan tones, printed large (over 3 feet across) to encourage the viewer to read into it at close range. On screen, it blends well with the neutral interior design but still holds its own visually — especially in lower light scenes like this one.
What stood out to me was how the production team used art not just as filler but as part of the overall tone of the space. The lines in the piece mirror the flow of conversation; there’s calm tension and some ambiguity, which works well for a legal drama. I didn’t know when exactly it would appear or for how long, so seeing it in this particular setting was a nice surprise.
Having artwork placed in film or TV always raises interesting questions — about how visual elements contribute to narrative, about the role of still images in moving stories. In this case, I think the piece became part of the set's atmosphere in a subtle but effective way.
For those interested in large-scale photography or working with production design teams, this is a good example of how abstract work can live outside of traditional gallery spaces. If you’re watching Suits L.A., keep an eye out — and let me know if it caught your attention.
